Configuring
a Bar Coding Solution
Your company realizes
that they have a problem tracking inventory or satisfying customer
requirements, and you have figured out that bar coding may be part
of the solution. MJD Software probably has the bar coding product
to meet your needs. Now all you have to figure out is which of our
applications you need to create a solution.
Here are some guidelines
that can help you identify which products are required to create
solution, if however you are still unsure or have any questions,
please contact us for assistance.
STEP 1
In order to scan bar codes your items first have to have bar code
labels on them. You may need to print bar coded item labels or you
may need to track the bar codes that are on the item when you receive
them. Most of our solutions start with our PBT
for Windows bar coding labeling and bar code database add-on
module for Sage Accpac ERP.
STEP 2
The next step is to identify what operational requirements your
company has and to select the best solution. Some customers may
need to implement the system to satisfy customer requirements and
others may simply want to become more efficient in their warehouse
operations.
For those purposes we
offer different types of products:
- Portable Applications
- these applications are designed to replicate transactions found
in Sage Accpac ERP or other 3rd party products, such as receiving,
physical inventory counts, etc., and run on Symbol Technologies
hand-held computer terminals. See our Solutions
Table for help on deciding which application best suits your
needs..
- Host Interface modules
– These software modules are add-ins to existing Sage Accpac ERP
modules or other 3rd Party products and add the functionality
of exporting and/or importing, data from an external source such
as our Portable Applications. See our Solutions
Table for help on selecting a Host Interface.
