PBT Pro can also be used to incorporate bar code scanning technology into existing business processes, such as receiving, physical inventory counts, picking, packing, and point of sale. PBT Pro achieves this by acting as the item/bar code translation database used by ACCPAC Plus and compatible products.

PBT Pro allows you to create and print labels, including bar codes, to meet UPC/EAN item label and ANSI MH10 shipping label standards or match your industry or customer required formats. For your convenience, a selection of predefined label formats are included and PBT has proven support for many specific industry standards. Meeting these standards additionally ensures compliance in producing labels for any EDI Trading Partner.

PBT Pro, through its data table design, enables you to print labels at many different points within your business process. As an example this means being able to print labels for items just transferred to sales from production, items on PO, items for PO s just received, just items in stock, and items on customer order. Database

PBT Pro maintains a sophisticated database providing you the power and flexibility to maintain as much existing product marking information, instead of relabeling received items, and to pre-label customer price tickets for items on sales orders with the least amount of effort. Additionally, PBT Pro's robust bar code database ensures that you can use bar code scanning at different points in your business process and automatically verify items and know the exact quantity in base stocking units, even if you are not scanning your bar code that identifies a standard Inventory Control unit of measure.

PBT Pro takes advantage of bar codes like no other solution. Through one database, you can automatically identify products purchased by pallet from the vendor, stocked internally by the case, sold to invoiced customers by the dozen and sold at point of sale in individual units. Whether you are receiving, counting stock, picking orders, or scanning at point of sale, the bar code tracked or printed by PBT Pro provides the most accurate product identification information available to track your inventory.

There are many other ways to use the PBT Pro database - just waiting for your specific challenges. You can attach specific label layouts to each bar code to ensure that no one has to remember what label size and layout goes with which item for which customer. You can also define several fields to track specific information about items supplied by vendors and shipped to customers. PBT Pro is designed to integrate with ACCPAC Plus PC-based accounting software. Using ACCPAC Plus Inventory Control as the host inventory database, PBT Pro extends its functionality and provides a foundation for integrating bar coding across your entire operation. PBT Pro reads data from virtually all ACCPAC core modules and other third party compatible products for label printing. PBT Pro's powerful database is also accessible to any third party products for integrating bar code scanning and translation of alternate UPC or SKU information to your Inventory Control item.

EDI

Usually Trading Partners in the first stage of any EDI implementation will issue labeling Implementation Guides requiring item, carton and transport unit identification. PBT Pro provides for the compliant production of UPC/EAN item labels, specific "floor-ready" customer price tickets and carton/skid shipping labels, such as the UCC-128 Serial Code Shipping Label. PBT Pro allows you to meet these Trading Partner guidelines, while it's integration and print function design delivers compliant labels, every time, with minimum employee effort.

PBT Pro can be used standalone to produce shipping labels or combined with Pic&Pac to generate specific required pieces of packing and shipping information, (not already in the ACCPAC system), from a controlled packing process rather than screen entry. The addition of Pic&Pac allows for automatic and in-line production of shipping labels, immediately after packing a carton.

PBT Pro and Pic&Pac provide a compliant packing and labeling system that also generates and maintains the required database and files to produce compliant ANSI X.12 EDI 856 Ship Notice Manifests, (Advance Ship Notices). Sites using PBT Pro and Pic&Pac to service EDI ASN's will also be using either Bravo's EDI-Pac or Bridgework's speEDI from Jesness Consulting for the receipt, translation and transmission of the standard formatted EDI message documents.

Optional Pro Modules

For companies that have very specific or complex labeling requirements or for clients simply requiring immediate or escalated implementations, MJD makes available optional Pro Modules. A Pro Module is a menu-installable, pre-configured setup. This loadable setup is simply "packaged consulting" and part of MJD Software's turnkey approach to getting you up and running quickly.

PBT Pro provides all the functions and features required for either you, the client, or your dealer, to build any required label environment. You will probably find that the rich PBT Pro manual, context-sensitive on-line help and included samples provide more than enough to get up and running quickly.

Our experience shows us that meeting regulatory and customer EDI labeling requirements demand an exacting setup. Many clients simply do not have enough time to do a proper implementation. Others simply do not want the responsibility or extra effort spent on learning specific bar coding and labeling expertise and would rather leave it up to the experts.
