The MJD O/E Host Interface
is one component in the suite of MJD Software applications that
comprise an electronic picking system for Sage Accpac ERP.
Together with the MJD Nexus and the
Live Picking Portable Application, the
MJD O/E Host Interface handles the process of electronically selecting
orders for picking, updating the orders with shipped quantities,
then posting orders or invoices.
Among its key features,
the MJD O/E Host Interface is designed to:
- Integrate fully with
the Order Entry module in Sage Accpac ERP
- Eliminate errors in
the transfer of information during the picking process
- Collect and import
serial numbers or lot numbers into Order Entry, or into a third
party serial number database
- Automatically update
picked orders with quantities shipped and post them as orders
or invoices
The O/E Host Interface
merges selected orders from Sage Accpac ERP Order Entry
with item bar codes from PBT
for Windows to create an electronic picking slip. The electronic
picking slip is sent to a hand-held terminal for truly portable
picking and data collection. Picking errors are eliminated, as the
system is able to electronically identify and validate the items
being scanned. Pickers are warned of overpicking, underpicking,
or picking the wrong item.
The O/E Host Interface
can be set up to prevent the invoicing or posting of orders when
certain types of picking conditions occur, such as incomplete orders.
A complete report is generated to identify these conditions. The
import procedure can be further automated by using the Auto-Import
feature which automatically checks, updates and posts orders or
invoices, as transactions are downloaded from the hand-held terminal.
MJD's electronic picking
system increases the accuracy and efficiency of picking orders in
a warehouse environment. It is a paperless system that transfers
information about active orders to a hand-held terminal for picking;
ensures the picker picks the correct item and the correct quantities,
and finally ensures that the picked data (shipped quantities) are
updated on the order or invoice correctly. This system virtually
eliminates both shipment errors due to incorrect picking and billing
errors due to incorrect invoicing. Additionally for companies having
to track serial numbers, it eliminates the need to ever have to
manually record a serial number.
